In the summertime, popsicles are everywhere and that means the sticks are too. You can pick up popsicle sticks are your local craft store or you can clean and keep them once you’re finished eating a delicious and refreshing popsicle!
No matter how you acquire your popsicle sticks (just maybe don’t “acquire” them from the doctor’s office the next time you’re in for a check-up and they leave the room), you and your kids can have a blast making adorably fun bracelets using Washi Tape, string/yarn, ribbon, foam, and, of course, Dress It Up buttons!
Some people like put popsicle sticks in boiling water to soften them up, which is definitely more immediate, but if you have young children, our method may be more helpful to you.
Take a jar and fill it with water and popsicle sticks, and leave it sit overnight. The next day, they will be nice and flexible without the danger of boiling water. Using another jar with the opening roughly the size of your wrist, curve the popsicle stick along the inside of the opening and let it spring out. The force will keep in place while you let it dry (you can also use a hairdryer if you’d like). Once it dries in a circular shape, you can go wild decorating it anyway you please!
If you make any awesome bracelets, we’d love to see them!
